Widget creation?

   Is it just me or is the Widget creation tutorial that Sony provides 
extremely confusing? They make it sound like everyone is a computer 
programmer? I spent an hour trying to decipher what the heck they are 
talking about by doing the lessons. Even on the sample lessons they talk
 about opening files as samples but don't tell you what to open them 
with? I would love to create Widgets for the device and they keep 
throwing out in the literature how easy it is to create them? Maybe it's
 just me but I am confused by the whole thing!
